ARTOS Foundation is a collaboration network: an independent, international nonprofit platform where filmmakers, technologists, educators, and legal experts work together on the responsible integration of new technologies and artificial intelligence into the craft of cinema.
It is built on the MIT model of the Collaborative Innovation Network, a community bound not by hierarchy but by a shared mission, where knowledge, experimentation, and leadership circulate freely, and every contribution returns to the network as a shared resource.
ARTOS was established in response to a structural shift in the moving image. For the first time, pictures can be generated not only by a camera but by generative algorithms, changing who makes creative decisions, how authorship is defined, and how a film comes together. That shift demands a common language, a shared methodology, and working standards. ARTOS exists to build them, so filmmakers lead this transition rather than follow it.
